Sleight-of-hand is basically an advanced system of physical and psychological deception informed by timing, tension, skill and training. I became interested in sleight-of-hand around the age of 14. After 14 years of practicing and training with sleight-of-hand I am only now starting to consider myself an expert. There is still so much to learn, develop and refine; being a sleight-of-hand expert means constant work and constant training, aiming for perfection (which is impossible to obtain).
Sleight-of-hand can become beautiful through either complexity or simplicity it depends on the context of its use, the practitioner and the goal. Playing-cards, coins, dice are just some of the objects associated with sleight-of-hand however in reality the system of rules, laws, principles and ideas of sleight-of-hand can be applied to any objects; this fact reveals the infinite possibilities for a sleight-of-hand expert and when translated into a performance (for either close-up magic or exhibitionist demonstrations) the variations become incredibly interesting through their diversity and their expressionistic potential.
