Close-up Magic show in London

Recently I rolled into London to see Barry & Stuart perform at the Soho Theatre. They were very good (as usual) mixing comedy, original thinking, good scripting, drama, great magic and the inevitable blood and gore. They are always interesting to watch as they have developed a unique style of their own which is as creepy as it is post-modern. Alfred Hitchcock once said that ‘style’ is nothing but self-plagiarism; this would be my only criticism of their work, namely that  it is doesn’t feel like they have progressed as artists. Regardless they are still better than 99% of all others out there. I went to see this show with two other professional Close-Up Magicians  who are also fans of their work. After the show we retired to the theatre bar which wasn’t as cool as I had hoped, where we chatted to Barry and Stuart for a while before they skipped off into the night to feed. We then did the same. The end.
